The Coffea Arabica Caturra variety is a low-statured variety that occurs as a natural mutation of the Arabica Bourbon variety and originates from the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The first reports of this variety were known in 1915, but it was only selected and described in 1937. It entered Colombia in 1952 and was widely spread throughout the country in the following decade. For a long time, it was planted under shady trees. Later on, it was replaced on many farms by other varieties.
