Bourbon is one of the most culturally and genetically important varieties; it was discovered on the Bourbon Islands, now known as Reunion Island.
While it is acknowledged that Bourbon has played a significant role in the history of coffee, it has a high potential to produce good quality coffee when grown in suitable environments, like in the case of Luis Guillermo. It is a natural mutation of Arabica, which has grown in the wild in Ethiopia for many centuries.
